October Festivities!

Dear Past, Present and Future Guests,

I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself! My name is Kay and I’m the new Assistant Innkeeper here at the Albemarle Inn in Asheville, NC. While learning the business these past few months, it has been a goal of mine to revamp our social media in hopes of connecting with more people and business like ourselves, so we all can share why we love doing what we do. I appreciate the patience of the innkeepers for allowing me to research and collect my thoughts, but I will always be learning and hoping for more feedback. With that being said, here is my first blog post!

As the sun sets a minute earlier each night, and the wind blows another handful of dry leaves onto your porch, and the Halloween costumes are already being made - here in Western North Carolina we are guilty of counting down the moments until we can officially welcome back the brisk autumn season.

The transition from warm to cool is the perfect time to celebrate everything from art to agriculture to music. What better way say goodbye to summer than to spend it at the Fall LEAF Festival – a “celebration of world culture” that highlights all of the wonderful things that make us a community. Visit the website for more details!

If you’re into a more unique theatrical experience, then The Venardos Circus is just for you! From now until October 20th, you can witness a variety of incredibly talented acts – all within the classic red & white circus tent. Tickets range from $15 (youth) to $25 (adult).

For the families who love Halloween (and hysterical stories), the Haunted Comedy LaZOOM Tours: True-ish Crimes Edition is a hilarious experience driving around Asheville in that big purple bus. If you are looking for something a little less comical – but just as creepy - then Haunted Asheville may be the perfect tour! An expert local guide will give a tour through the spookiest sites of downtown Asheville, and even stops at the Mystery Museum.

If an out-of-the-box evening sounds interesting, check out Le Vine Noire at The Conundrum. Most people have enjoyed an evening of drinking wine, but most people have never experienced an evening like this! Check out the website for event times and reservations. Must be 21 or over.

And speaking of wine - as someone who is also in extreme anticipation for autumn, I have been attempting to create my own unique version of Mulled Wine. While I experimented with many different recipes found in books, online and word of mouth, I’m going to be honest: I’m never fully satisfied. I am unsure why, but hopefully by my favorite holiday (Halloween, of course), I will have created a fun recipe for us all to try while snuggled outside by a bonfire!

As always, if you’re ever needing help with making your trip to Asheville, NC special – the staff here at the Albemarle Inn is dedicated to making an experience as unique as you are! So get your earmuffs and scarfs out of the closet and give them a good dusting – autumn in #RomanticAsheville is on its way! Remember to book directly with us for the best rates! You can also book online or call us at 828-255-0027. #bookdirect

If you have other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call.

Ciao!

Kay Halverson, Assistant Innkeeper
