Bartok’s Symphony Dinner
Posted by: Fabrizio Chiariello
We were proud to set the stage for the Bartok Symphony Dinner, Asheville’s Symphony Guild Benefit in March. For those of you who don’t know the connection, Bela Bartok lived here at the Inn when it was a rooming house in 1943. While residing here, Bartok composed his Third Concerto for Piano, also known as the “Asheville Concerto.” It is said that he was inspired by the “concert of birds” singing in the gardens and trees surrounding the Inn. Hence our naming of Bartok’s Retreat on our third floor.
